21 February, 2002 There is a webpage up for information on The Official Kevin Smith Memorial Foundation. I will continue to post info as I hear about it. 20 February, 2002 I do not know what I can say that has not already been said by Kevin's fans the world over. When Angelique called me on Sunday to let me know that Kevin Smith had passed away, I was stunned. Michael and I, along with several other members of Luna-C Productions, met Kevin at Warrior Con back in 1997. It was the first show for Xena Warrior Milkmaid and I was more than a little nervous. I had no idea what Kevin or any of the other XWP guests at the convention would think of my schlocky little parody of their show. To my surprise, Kevin was not only friendly to us when we finally met him, he even agreed to participate in one of our skits. I remember his reaction as he rehearsed the script for "Ares Extra-Dry." After each line he would laugh, and say, "Oh god, that's a terrible joke! I love it!" He was in tears by the time he finished. When we finally got on stage, he gave us his best performance. The audience loved it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kevin's wife and sons, and to all the loved ones he left behind. I understand a memorial fund is being put together for his family. I have no details on it yet, but when I find something out, I will post the information here on this page. In the mean time, I would just like to say that Kevin Smith was a truly wonderful person and a gifted actor. We will always remember him. Helen Madden |
